Exit Interviews Policy and Procedures – ALL REGIONS

Exit Interviews Policy and Procedures – ALL REGIONS

##

In a nutshell

In any given year, and for a variety of reasons,a number of employees will resign from their employment with Bloom & Grow. It is Bloom & Grow’s policy to conduct Exit Interviews with these individuals where possible.

The purpose of the exit interview is:

To identify the main reasons why employees choose to leave
To find out what the employee feels we do well as an organisation
To find out areas in which we can improve
To provide the employee with an opportunity to make any comments relating to their employment with us
To take the opportunity to thank the departing employee for their contribution and wish them well.

##

Conducting an Exit Interview

A member of Bloom & Grow’s HR department, or a Manager who is not the employee’s direct Line Manager will normally conduct the exit interview. Interviews may take place in person, or by telephone as appropriate. Ideally, the exit interview will take place as near as possible to the employee’s last day of work.

##

Format of the Exit Interview

The Bloom & Grow Exit Interview Form (See Appendix 1) should be used for all exit interviews. The form provides a standard set of questions. The conducting manager should explain the reason for conducting the interview and how the information will be used. Ratings should be explained to the employee, and additional comments written underneath.

The role of the interviewer is to collect the information and to be impartial. The interviewer should not express opinions on the contents of the interview.

##

After the Interview

Completed forms should be sent to the HR Department for review, and for analysis of the contents. The information received will, where appropriate be used to improve recruitment and retention practices, and to address any areas of concern that are highlighted.

Employees who do not wish to participate in an exit interview.

All employees will be asked to participate in an exit interview. If an employee does not wish to take participate, the Exit Interview form will be posted to them after they have left employment.

##

Complaints and Grievances

Employees who have concerns, problems or complaints relating to this policy and procedures should speak to their line manager. It is Bloom & Grow’s policy to try and resolve all issues informally in the first instance. If this is not possible all employees have the right to raise a formal  grievance in line with the Bloom & Grow Grievance Procedures.
